Putting CO₂ in perspective - Volume

About this calculator

This calculator uses the Ideal Gas Law to calculate the volume of a given amount of carbon dioxide, the law simply relates the pressure, `p`, volume, `V`, and temperature `T` in the formula:

`pV = nRT`

Where `n` is the number of moles of the gas, and `R` is the gas constant.

To make it easier to visualise tonnes of CO2 in these terms we also show it in more unconvetional units, including the number of hot air ballons that could be filled.
If you can think of more useful ways to represent CO2 please let us know, ideally by emailing contact@gfleet.co.uk.
