Establishing the carbon footprint from transport is the first step towards identifying which aspect of transport is the most significant producer of carbon. The Gfleet approach is to consider all transport funded by the organisation including Heavy Goods, Vans, Company or Lease Cars, ECO Schemes, Allowance Cars, Grey Fleet, Hire Cars and Taxis.
Many clients have already established - with some accuracy - their total transport carbon footprint but being able to drill down to fleet level and then to individual vehicles is not a requirement of CSR reporting. However it is necessary if corporate carbon reduction targets are to be delivered by local managers and their drivers. Gfleet can help establish this detail in the carbon picture.
There is also a close relationship between carbon and cost - it take 380 litres of diesel to make one tonne of carbon dioxide - that's about £400/tonne at today's prices and maybe a lot more in the future. Gfleet is happy to discuss saving carbon as well as saving money - they are two sides of the same coin.
Gfleet has developed a methodology based on World Resources Institute (WRI) and defra Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reporting standards to ensure any footprint is compliant with best practice reporting. This methodology also ensures data is comparable year on year and that any re-declaration due to data improvements is transparent to stakeholders.
